Pelton Aggregates

Have an aggregate-related question? We have the answer. Check out these FAQs and give us a call today for more information!

  • Do you deliver?

Yes! We provide residential and jobsite direct delivery service for materials like gravel up to 60 miles from our two locations in Wilmington and Dunn. Delivery can be arranged outside of the 60-mile radius; however, the cost of delivery significantly increases the further away the delivery is from our locations.
  • When can I get my order delivered?

At Pelton Aggregates, we offer delivery Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Once you place your order, we will work with you to schedule the most convenient day and time for you. Oftentimes, we can even offer same-day deliveries for materials, including river rock!
  • Can your delivery trucks spread the material for me?

While we cannot provide full spreading services, we may be able to perform a "tailgate spread" for materials like gravel to distribute them more evenly upon delivery if it is deemed safe to do so per the driver's discretion. This spreading technique means that the truck will gradually distribute the material while driving, scattering it along the route rather than dumping it in one large pile.
  • Can I pick up my own material?

Yes! We welcome you to stop by our Wilmington or Dunn yards and pick up your own material, including stone, if you have the means of hauling it. We can fill the back of most pickups, trailers, and dump trucks. As a disclaimer, Pelton Aggregates Company is not responsible for any damage our rocks or stone may cause to your personal vehicle, work vehicle, trailer, or any property not belonging to us during loading. Pelton will not be held liable for any bodily injury caused by fallen rocks, flying debris, or any damage that may occur to an individual during the loading process. We ask that you please remain in your vehicle during this time. Children are not allowed on the yard.
  • How many tons are in a yard?

From our knowledge, in general, one cubic yard = 1.35 US tons. However, this can depend on the exact size and classification of the stone. For example, a stone that is two to four inches in size will be heavier than one that is three-fourths of an inch in size. Composition and density have a huge effect on the weight to volume ratio. Use our gravel calculator tab above, or feel free to call us and we can help!
  • What projects are aggregate materials suited for?

Our gravel, crushed stone, and other aggregates are recommended for driveways, drainage, landscaping, construction, and various other residential and commercial projects. Homeowners are increasingly investing in outdoor living spaces, and according to Stats Market Research, residential decorative rock installations are growing at an annual rate of about eight to 10%. This highlights the rising popularity of using quality materials like gravel and stone to enhance property value and curb appeal. Please check each product description on our site for specific usage recommendations, or feel free to call us.
  • Is there a minimum amount I must purchase?

There are no minimums except on bulk delivery orders, including for stone materials, which require an order of 22 or more tons.
  • How is a bulk order delivered?

We dispatch all orders, including river rock, using professional dump trucking fleets for safe and timely delivery. Drivers will determine the best location to dump depending on the landscape and moisture of the soil. Dump trucks are heavy, so we may not be able to drive on wet or unstable ground.
  • What if I have an issue with my order?

If you have questions or issues with your order, including gravel, please contact us at 910-232-5728. If you have received your order and are not satisfied, please call us. If you wish to refuse the order, you must do so before it is unloaded. If you are not present at the time of delivery to refuse it, you will be responsible for the payment of the stone, gravel, or other aggregates, but you may receive a discount on the order or a future order. Orders should always be examined before dumping to ensure you know what product you are receiving. We want to make things right, so please give us the opportunity to work toward a satisfactory solution.
  • What payment options do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, including payments for gravel orders, with an additional 3% payment fee. We also accept cash.
